- Prepare 1/2 cup Varagu/kodo millet

I have used Varagu (Kodo millet) to make this Pongal. The recipe is very simple and you can opt this for a easy breakfast. In the meantime, Heat a tadka pan with ghee. Once the ghee is heated, add cashews and fry it till golden brown.
Steps to make Varagu pongal/kodo millet pongal:
- Dry roast varargu with dhal in thick bottom pan for 2 minutes. Then wash it and rinse the water thoroughly. in a cooker add Varagu rice and dhal with salt and water make it for 3-4 whistles.
- In a separate pan, add ghee in it add chopped ginger, cumin pepper,hing and curry leaves.
- After the cooker gets cool in room temperature add roasted ingredients in that Varagu rice and mix well if u want add some more ghee. Healthy kodo millet/Varagu rice Pongal is ready to eat,u can enjoy it with coconut chutney as best combination.
Add the ghee fried cashews to the Pongal once pressure. Super delicious and healthy millets pongal which taste really yummy. An alternative for your regular pongal. Try this millet one for this pongal. Since pongal is around the corner, i was thinking what new pongal to make for this year.
